Baldur's Gate 3 System Requirements may change as the game progresses through Early Access in Steam, but an RPG doesn't require an overly powerful gaming PC right now.
Developer Larian suggests that you won't need the best graphics card to run Baldur's Gate 3 comfortably, as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 or AMD Radeon R9 280X are good enough to pass this particular skill test.
However, you'll want to upgrade to a more modern pixel pusher if you want to use AMD's FSR or Nvidia DLSS gaming scaling technology. Both of these features can help to significantly increase frame rates without significantly affecting image quality.
Here are the minimum and recommended system requirements for Baldur's Gate 3:
Minimum | Recommended | |
OS | Windows 7 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
Processor | Intel Core i5 4690 AMD FX 4350 | Intel Core i7 4770K AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
Graphics Processor | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 AMD Radeon R9 280X | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 AMD Radeon RX 580 |
Video memory | 3 GB | 6 GB |
Storage | 150 GB | 150 GB |
The biggest problem that most people have when launching Baldur's Gate 3 is freeing up 150 GB of memory to install it. Having a better SSD for gaming should solve this problem and improve boot times.
If you're saddened by the prospect of not being able to run one of the best RPGs around, don't worry. As noted on the page Baldur's Gate 3 Steam "Requirements may decrease during Early Access as performance improves."
