Portal system requirements with RTX are quite demanding and you will need an expensive GPU to enjoy the updated first-person puzzle game. While Valve's original platformer for gaming PCs would most likely run on a GLaDOS potato, Nvidia's DLSS-compatible remake demands powerful performance across the board.

You won't need the best gaming PC to meet the minimum Portal RTX specs, but a budget build won't be enough. You'll need at least an Nvidia RTX 3060 to get started, and that's just for playing at 1080p 30fps.

Here are the Portal with RTX system requirements, recommended and ultra:

To increase resolution and improve fps, Lightspeed Studios recommends using one of the best graphics cards available, the Nvidia RTX 3080. Opting for an Ampere GPU will allow you to game at 60 frames per second, but the developers still recommend 1080p.

If you are using a high-end UHD capable gaming monitor, you need to replace the above model with an RTX 4080. This will help you push speeds up to 4K, while DLSS 3 support will help you maintain high fps with Frame Generation.

The rest of the Portal RTX PC specs won't make your eyes water as much, but that doesn't mean they're lightweight. You'll need 16GB of RAM to meet the minimum and recommended settings, and that figure doubles when it comes to Ultra requirements.

You won't need the best gaming processor if you stick to Portal RTX's minimum or recommended requirements, but things change when it comes to Ultra. Specifically, you'll need either an Intel i7-12700K or an AMD Ryzen 9 5900, both of which only came out last year.

Finally, to boot Portal with RTX, you'll need to free up 25 GB, and Lightspeed Studios recommends using an SSD. This isn't necessarily a sign to run out and buy the best SSD for gaming, but it will help protect your system for the future and fight slow boot times.
