The new AMD RDNA 4 graphics cards are coming sooner than you think as the red team is already hard at work on their next architecture. To help separate red herrings from credible rumors, here's everything we know so far about the next generation of Radeon GPUs.

The coveted title of best graphics card could fall into AMD's hands when the company releases its RDNA 4 GPUs. However, this requires a substantial performance boost over the current generation RDNA 3 pixel pushers.

These upcoming Radeon cards will face stiff competition from Nvidia RTX 5000 and Intel Battlemage GPUs, which at the very least means PC builders will have plenty of options for the next graphics card.

RDNA 4 is still in early development so any details about these pixel pushers are subject to change. With that in mind, digest each piece of information below with a pinch of salt.

AMD RDNA 4 Release Date Rumors

The release date for AMD RDNA 4 is expected to be sometime in 2024, two years after the release of the Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX.

During the presentation, AMD announced the arrival of its RDNA 4 graphics cards based on Navi 4x GPUs. On the webcast, a slide could be seen showing the timeline of each iteration of RDNA, ending with the fourth generation in 2024.

If we can judge by the nature of the release of the Radeon RX 7000 series, then we should expect the most powerful pixel processors to appear first, and cheaper SKUs will appear a little later.

AMD RDNA 4 price speculation

It will be a long time before we know the price of AMD RDNA 4 as the red team has not yet announced the price of the expected GPUs like the Radeon RX 7800 XT and others.

However, we can get a rough estimate based on previous releases and current trends. For example, both the Radeon 7900 XTX and 6900 XT models have the same MSRP of $999, but we're not likely to see this repeated in a potential 8000-series flagship (at least not yet).

With TMSC raising the prices of their wafers by 25%, it's not unreasonable to assume that we could see RDNA 4 break the four-figure barrier when it comes to price.

Specs Rumors

Any information on AMD RDNA 4 specs is pretty much up for discussion until we get close to presenting it, but some preliminary details have surfaced.

Sources close to RedGamingTech claim that RDNA 4 graphics cards can have up to 24GB of GDDR7 VRAM. Although this volume is no more than the 7900 XTX, it should be much faster than the GDDR6 used in this GPU.

These pixel pushers should also use PCIe 5.0 and a new and improved version of the Infinite Cache. RGT claims they were told "3,5GHz seems easily achievable" but we've heard that before with RDNA 3.

AMD RDNA 4 Benchmark

Don't expect any RDNA 4 benchmark charts to appear anytime soon. At this point, we have a few nuggets of performance information.

RedGamingTech, citing its sources, reports that AMD RDNA 4 will provide "significant gains in ray tracing" and Navi 4x GPUs will have "more than double the performance of their predecessors." How this will affect the frame rate on each video card model is still unknown.
