At some point in Overwatch 2, a bug was discovered that allowed players to accidentally purchase character skins.

According to various Overwatch 2 players on reddit, the bug that caused unexpected purchases was related to the in-game chat.

Apparently, if a player was viewing the hero gallery while typing a message in chat, keystrokes were "incorrectly interpreted by the game as input for menu navigation."

“Unfortunately, the skin only requires two presses of spacebar to unlock, which can happen in a split second when you press it dozens of times per suggestion,” said Reddit user Dracyoshi, who accidentally unlocked the Junker Queen Plutonium skin while chatting .

The most frustrating thing about this situation is that Blizzard will not refund any items spent using in-game currency, as all sales are final. So it looks like those who bought an item from the store without intent might not be so lucky.

However, a hotfix released on Thursday evening appears to have fixed the bug in the chat, so it is now reportedly safe to use in-game chat while browsing the hero gallery.

This is just the latest in a string of issues since the release of Overwatch 2 earlier this week. Since Tuesday, players have been reporting server errors, outages, long queues, items and progress not being carried over from Overwatch 1, being unable to log in, and other issues.
