Overwatch 2 server downtime is baffling Blizzard FPS game players after it arrived later than scheduled. Along with the decision to remove phone verification in Overwatch 2, Blizzard announced that several long server downtimes will be implemented a few days after launch on October 4 to try to fix account merging and login issues, as well as implement "significant updates" to multiplayer game server database.

The Overwatch 2 servers went down for two extended periods during October 6, the first of which involved an attempt to resolve overwatch 2 account merge and login issues. Due to this, many players lost their unlocked Overwatch cosmetic items from the first game or found that several Overwatch 2 heroes are locked because they were erroneously identified as new users, which puts them in "first user experience".

Overwatch 2's second server shutdown was originally planned to last three hours while server updates were in progress. However, it did not actually take effect approximately 90 minutes after the original scheduled time, leaving many players are confused especially since it was scheduled to run from 18:00 PM PT/9:00 AM ET, prime time for users in America.

Fortunately, despite the late start, the servers were restored just 15 minutes later than Blizzard's scheduled time. However, many players found themselves in the same situation as before. Queue number anomalies are still common, with numerous examples such as one user reports: “Finally I was given the option to merge queue when I loaded the game. [post-downtime] and now I'm waiting for 460 people." Others say their items still haven't returned, or that their heroes are still mistakenly trapped in the first user experience.

First of all, players tend to be frustrated with the communication (or lack thereof) from Blizzard. While his post explaining the main issues and server downtime provides some clarity on the situation, many fans were confused by the downtime going beyond the scheduled time without further notice and didn't seem to resolve the issues. questionable afterwards. Launching a live game such as this is certainly no small feat, but with players left in the dark, a general climate of frustration brews that Blizzard might find hard to shake in the coming weeks.
