The sword puzzle from Resident Evil 4's treasure chest may seem like a difficult quest. So far in Resident Evil 4 Remake, you've finally made it to the castle and taken care of a very intimidating priest. But while we no longer have to worry about Mendez catching up with us and towering over us, there are still plenty of bad guys to break through.

Now Ashley and I are in the Castle and we will need to find our way inside to continue this adventure! Here is our Resident Evil 7 Remake chapter 4 guide that explains how to open the castle door and escape the Water Hall!

Resident Evil 4 Remake Chapter 7 - How to Destroy Catapults

We end chapter 6 at the castle with Ashley and start chapter 7 with a short chat with Luis. Now we need to get into the courtyard to meet him.

Just outside the Castle Gate is the Merchant. So, we stock up and start moving around the castle.

The route through the castle is relatively linear, so don't be afraid to get lost. As you approach the chapel, get ready for a nasty parasite.

Keep going and when the hooded man yells "KILL" at you, prepare for mayhem. Ganados Castle will attack you now and they have some catapults to boot.

How to open the castle door in Resident Evil 4 Remake

When you get to the door to the castle, it will be locked. Now it's time to get creative! Basically, we're going to steal a gun from these guys and break down this door. There is another request for blue medallions in this "castle gate" area.

Follow the path opposite the door (don't go down the stairs again) and go left. Go down to the lower level and there is a cannon inside this small tower. Destroy the cargo next to it to bring it up to the upper level, then go back upstairs and approach it.

By all means, shoot the door and run straight ahead, but I recommend shooting the other catapults first to make things easier.

Now we can disable other catapults firing at us by shooting them with a cannon, and we can also break the castle door with it. I suggest taking care of the catapults first, rather than neglecting them, as it will make our life and Ashley's life much easier.

After taking care of the catapults and opening the castle door, go ahead.

Do what you want with the merchant and the typewriter. Then proceed to the Audience Hall to meet none other than Ramon Salazar.

Anticipate the appearance of enemies immediately after the cut-scene and tell Ashley to stay away! With them bring down, explore freely. Most of the doors here are locked. To the left of the room, however, there is a ledge next to the "gap in the wall" marker on our map; send Ashley and she will open the room from the other side.

Ask Ashley to jump onto the nearest ledge and then go through the gap in the wall.

Now we can get through the actual hole in the wall here. The next gate will be locked, so go down into the caves. Below, we can get the key to the dungeon from the corpse.

How to beat Garrador in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Go back upstairs or try, anyway. You will fall through the ground and meet Garrador. This guy is the first of the few, and he is also blind. To compensate for his inability to see, he can hear you. Be careful when you make any noise because as soon as he hears you, he will surround you.

Run away from Garrador, no matter how much noise you make as you move into the next room. In the end, he will still break free of his chains. However, once you are in the next room, keep quiet.

Try to avoid Garrador strategically and deal a lot of damage to him whenever you can. In this fight, you should avoid the chains around the room, as they make noise. However, you can try to make a scene or use grenades to lure him into a corner. You can then go ahead and attack the weak spot on his back. Repeat the process until he dies!

Turn the wheel in this room to open the gate and go back upstairs to reunite with Ashley. Now use the dungeon key we captured earlier on the locked gate.

Solving the Resident Evil 4 Remake Treasury Sword Puzzle

At the Treasury, we need to do a few things. First, look at the animal emblems on the gates; wolf, eagle and snake. Also take a look at the four iron pieces of art by the smaller gate in the room; three of them have decorative swords.

We need to ring three gongs in the room with animal emblems. The first one (the wolf) is next to the gate, and the other two (the eagle and the snake) are on the other side of the gate, to the right of the room.

You can then go through the gate and get the fourth sword.; bloody sword.

Return to the four pieces of art and collect all four swords. Take a look at the drawing and you'll probably understand where it's going before I even explain.

Four works of art tell a kind of story. There is a knight standing to his full height and he has an iron sword. Second, the knight was knighted, which we can safely assume was done with a golden sword. Next, we have a knight in combat, so place the bloodied sword here. Last but not least, the fourth painting depicts the tomb of a knight; place the rusty sword here.

From left to right, you must place these swords: Iron, Gold, Bloody and Rusty.

Voila, the second gate in this room will now be open and we can move on.

Go to the upper level of the Audience Hall. To your left is another gong. Use it. Then have Leon jump across the room through the chandelier and shoot another gong on that side of the room. Two more gates with animal emblems will now open.

From here, go down and open the door to the Audience Hall. We may need it later. Then head down the stairs at the back of the room and continue to the Water Room.

How to escape the Water Hall in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Clear Ganados Castle to keep Ashley safe. On the lower level, take the Halo Wheel from the statue at the front of the room.

Take the Halo Wheel from this statue and use it on the altar to your right.

There are several altars that require this wheel, and Ashley must use two of them. Further actions are marked on the map below.

First attach the wheel to the altar on the lower level of the Water Hall. This will reveal some stairs.

Head upstairs and use the Halo Wheel on the next altar in the middle of the room. This will open up most of the room and make things a little easier.

Ahead is another altar with a wheel. Use it to open the hidden platform. Then put Ashley's platform on your left and find the next wheel we need to turn.

She will turn one wheel and then she needs to turn another on the right side of the room. Your job as Leon is to keep the enemies away from Ashley and also from yourself while she does it! A rifle is very useful for this, as are grenades; Don't hurt Ashley!

Then you can run across the bridge and go outside. The gate here will be locked, but send Ashley up the ledge directly to their left. Then she can open the gate for us from the other side.
