Passing the courtyard maze and other quests in Resident Evil 4 Remake is not easy, but we will help you. At the end of the last chapter of Resident Evil 4 Remake, we were once again reunited with Ashley after she temporarily succumbed to the Las Plagas parasite. Luis still wants to meet us at the castle courtyard, so we really need to go there.

As always, Luis won't be waiting for us in the yard, but we don't need to worry too much about him. In this chapter, we have a whole series of puzzles to solve. Without further ado, here is our Resident Evil 9 Remake Chapter 4 guide that explains how to navigate the courtyard maze, complete the Three Headed Statue puzzle, and help Ashley escape Armadura's library.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Chapter 9 - Walkthrough

After completing chapter 8, exit through the brown double doors and down the stairs to the maze. Around the labyrinth in the towers there are three levers that will lower the flags, and eventually open the main gate in the area we need to go through.

The location of the three levers is marked on the map below. Colmillos will spawn around the maze, often disappearing into the bushes before reappearing, so be sure to kill them when you have the opportunity.

To get to the second tower, you really need Ashley to pull the lever to open the nearest gate so you can get to it. This is also marked on the map above!

With the three flags lowered and the gate open, go to the Great Hall.

The merchant will be through the first door on your right. You will find that there are two more requests in this area of the Great Hall of the castle: another Blue Medallions and More Pest Control.

After setting up and saving, go to the end of the hall where you will find a statue that needs three masks; lion, goat and snake. We will find each of them in three different adjoining rooms.

From the statue, go left to the dining room. Take a close look at the two paintings at the end of the hall. You need Ashley to sit at the same table as the woman in the picture and Leon to sit at the same table as the man.

Ashley and Leon must sit at the same table as these two pictures.

This means that Ashley facing the paintings should sit to the right of the first table, in second place along. Leon, on the other hand, should sit to the left of the second table, in second place along.

When they are both seated, have Leon ring the bell. If both Ashley and Leon are in the correct places, the Serpent Head required for the statue is unlocked.

Take the Serpent Head and return to the Great Hall. We go upstairs and through the door on the left, which leads us to the Gallery.

When you try to cross the bridge here, Ganado Castle will lower it and attack. Kill the horde while Ashley stays behind, then head up the stairs in this room to get to the lever.

Climb up this ladder and approach the lever.

Pull the lever to raise the bridge again. You can then go up the stairs on the other side of the room and open the gate to access the bridge and collect the Goat's Head.

Pull this lever to raise the bridge again. Now you can grab the Goat's Head!

Now exit the room and enter the only door in the Great Hall that we haven't been through yet.

When you're in the Armory, grab the Lion's Head. Once you've done that, it'll soon become apparent that the armor isn't just there for display. When Armadura revives, aim at their necks and use grenades to blow up their armor so they are easier to shoot at.

These guys also hate the light. In fact, when faced with light, they will freeze. Ashley will help you by throwing lanterns to stun the knights, giving you the ability to melee attack them.

When they are taken care of, help Ashley jump down and have her pull the door handle along with Leon.

Open this door by pulling the lever next to Ashley.

Exit the Armory to return to the Great Hall. Place the three heads on the statue earlier and the door next to it will open. Of course, Ganado has other ideas, and Leon is locked in a cage, leaving Ashley to fend for herself.

How to set the clock and help Ashley escape the Armadura in Resident Evil 4 Remake

After the cutscene, you will play as Ashley. Raise the lantern in front of you and the door will open. During this next segment, more Armadura will appear, but Ashley can shine a lantern on them to prevent them from attacking her.

Go through the door to the library. In the south of the room, place the lantern on the pedestal to make the bookshelves move.

Turn on the lantern on this pedestal.

Go through the new opening and turn the wheel to drop a hidden ladder above you. Now take your lantern and go up the stairs, taking the bunch of keys from the table.

Head north of the library, being careful of Armadura, and use the key ring on the elevator. The key you need is the third key.

Exit the elevator and go to the right of the room where you will find a table with a note; it's 11:04.

Now go back to the grandfather clock and enter the exact time on it. As a result, another door opens!

The clock should show 11:04!

Run to the next hall and turn the wheel to get to the library again, exit the library on the right and enter the room with another grandfather clock. Enter the time 11:04 here as well, and alas, the door will open again.

Enter the elevator and in the Mausoleum we will need to strike four gongs to open the gate. As we ring each gong, more and more Armadura will wake up. Be persistent by avoiding their attacks and go through the gate as soon as you open it.

Pull the four gongs around the room in any order.

At the very base of the Mausoleum there are three pedestals on which lanterns are needed. However, if you lower the lantern, nothing will happen. Each pedestal has a specific symbol - full moon, crescent and star - which requires a lantern with the corresponding symbol.

This is easy to do by trial and error, but eventually Ashley's lantern moves to the second pedestal on the first hold. The lantern she picks up is placed on the first pedestal (to the left of the locked gate). The last lantern can be placed on the third and final pedestal.

The gate will now open and you can steal the Salazar family badge. After that, run back to the library and go up the stairs.

Place the Salazar Family Sign in the shield-shaped slot on the door.

Exit through the door to reunite with Leon. Only temporarily, however. This is Resident Evil 4!

This marks the end of Chapter 9 of Resident Evil 4.
