Confirming several rumors about Silent Hill, Konami has confirmed that a remake of Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill: Townfall, is in development by Polish studio Bloober Team, developer of horror games such as Layers of Fear and The Medium.

While Silent Hill 2 is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console, it will also be available on PC, Konami has confirmed. On the site Store Page Steam already open.

The presentation also saw the announcement of Silent Hill: Townfall, a new game from Annapurna Interactive and No Code, developer of puzzle game Stories Untold and sci-fi thriller Observation.

Another Silent Hill film is also in development, with the 2006 film's director, Christoph Hans, taking over directing duties again. In the presentation, Hans explains that he wants Silent Hill 2 to stay true to its source material while surprising viewers with new interpretations of iconic creature designs and visuals.

Silent Hill Ascension is a cross between a film and a game - according to Konami, it will be an interactive experience that will include live performances in which viewers can help decide the fate of the characters and the world, changing the Silent Hill universe forever. Ascension will be released in 2023.

Finally, the presentation ended with the showing of another new game in the series called Silent Hill f. The teaser for this game shows a schoolgirl making her way through a village in the Japanese countryside as menacing tendrils of red fungus entangle her arms and legs. These are striking images that culminate in a shot reminiscent of Midsommar's final scene, although the Silent Hill version is much darker and macabre.

After a long wait, Silent Hill fans suddenly have something to look forward to.
