During today's Silent Hill Transmission, we didn't just see the remake of Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill Townfall, and Silent Hill F. We also learned about the new Return to Silent Hill movie, as well as more unusual packaging. Silent Hill: Ascension.

Silent Hill: Ascension Trailer

This is perhaps the most exciting experience we've had since the Silent Hills game teaser was shown via PT. This was supposed to be Hideo Kojima's new work on the series, and given the demo, people were very prepared for Silent Hill to scare them unconscious again. However, Silent Hills never saw the light of day, and PT remains a mystery.

It's been a few years since we've heard of Silent Hill, so it's pretty good to see the series trying to make a comeback with full force, in the form of different kinds of media.

Silent Hill: Ascension was shown during the broadcast, and it looks like it will be some sort of live event that fans of the franchise can attend. During the teaser, we glimpsed messages discussing whether they could save "her" or advising someone to escape. This leads everyone to believe that this will be some kind of interactive, community stream.

Ascension is also being made in partnership with JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Games, Dead by Daylight developer Behavior Interactive, streaming software specialists Genvid, and dj2 Entertainment, which specializes in game adaptations for television.

It then went on to talk about how Silent Hill: Ascension was inspired by streamers playing Silent Hill live while experiencing fear along with their viewers. Ascension will be a live event and series, and it looks like the audience will be the one to decide how things play out.

Finally, we're reminded that there won't be a reset button in Ascension, and it's up to those watching to "shape the Silent Hill canon forever." It's certainly an interesting concept for the Silent Hill universe and I can't wait to get involved, but hopefully it's not just a darker version of Black Mirror's Bandersnatch.
