Production has begun on the second season of the television series Halo. film crew currently based in Iceland where filming has already begun. At the end of this year, the team will begin filming in Budapest.

Paramount+ confirmed ahead of the debut of the first season that the series had been renewed for a second season. For the new season, Pablo Schreiber will return as Commander-in-Chief of Spartan 117, while David Wiener will join the season as showrunner and executive producer.

Joseph Morgan and Christina Rodlo will join the cast as UNSC Intelligence Operative and Linguistics Specialist, respectively.

Halo, the television adaptation of Microsoft's popular franchise, set a Paramount+ record for being the most watched premiere on the streaming service. The series premiere knocked 1883 out of first place, which isn't a big deal considering the series is a prequel to the rather popular Yellowstone series.

Both series were heavily marketed, and while 1883 had an association with Yellowstone, the Halo campaign served a dual purpose - both for fans of the game for over 20 years and for those who love sci-fi series.

Viewer numbers for Halo were not provided, but 1883's Paramount+ debut screening drew 4,9 million viewers post-Yellowstone, so we know that Halo had more viewers than 1883.
