Like a Dragon : They were the voice acting will be in Japanese only, which means that western markets will have to settle for English subtitles.

In an interview with Tojo Dojo, Yokoyama said that the reason the studio did not choose an English dub was because of the way people "spoke in the Bakumatsu era".

“For the remake of Ishin, we are using subtitles,” Yokoyama said. “We don’t duplicate voiceovers. We're translating the game into English, but the specialized vocabulary and way people spoke in the Bakumatsu era would have made the lines incredibly long, so it just wouldn't have worked. That’s why we’re doing subtitles this time.”

He goes on to say that many in English-speaking companies don't like to read subtitles, but Yakuza 0, which was subtitled, was very popular despite the lack of an English dub.

Like a Dragon: Ishin was announced earlier this week during Sony's State of Play presentation. This is a remake of the Yakuza spin-off previously unavailable in Western markets.

The game takes place during the last years of the Edo period, when the Tokugawa shogunate ended. In terms of plot, it is set in the 1860s and Kyo suffers from widespread inequality. But one samurai in search of justice will change the course of history.

You will play as Sakamoto Ryoma, who wants to avenge his father's death, clear his name from a framed murder, and restore his honor. By doing so, you will end the era of the samurai and change the future of Japan forever.

The game will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in February 2023.
