Rumors of an upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 from developer Virtuos have intensified thanks to the MGS artbook seen in a recent recruiting video.

Rumors of an upcoming Metal Gear Solid 3 remake from developer Virtuos have resurfaced thanks to a hint in a recent recruitment video. The 2004 stealth action game, which is a prequel to the previous installments, is considered the most innovative and memorable part of Hideo Kojima's tactical espionage saga. Rumors of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake by Virtuos surfaced last year, and now more evidence points to the existence of this devious project.

According to Video Games Chronicle, a recruiting video recently posted to YouTube by Virtuos contains a clever nod to the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake. As noted by Twitter user GGFTL, in the video, a copy of the book “The Art of Metal Gear Solid” can be seen on the desk of Virtuos concept artist Louis-Alex Boismenou. This could be a sly hint that the developer is working with the beloved stealth action franchise, presumably on a remake of one of the older installments. However, the concept art on Boismenou's desk does not appear to be related to the Metal Gear series.

Metal Gear Solid could be back in the spotlight

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake

Previous rumors have suggested that Virtuos' Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will have Kojima as a consultant, which would be a great way to ensure the project's authenticity. Fans regard the third installment of Metal Gear Solid 3 as especially sacred, with some truly iconic boss fights and an emotional storyline that reveals the origin of the series' antagonist Big Boss. MGS3 also differs from other games in its natural environment, where players use various camouflage suits and face paints to make their way through the dense jungles of the Soviet Union.

The Metal Gear Solid series has been dormant since 2014, when franchise creator Hideo Kojima left Konami and founded his own independent studio. No new installments have been released since Kojima's departure, but the recent announcement of new Silent Hill games suggests that Konami is ready to resurrect old popular franchises. The last part of the survival horror series came out in 2012, but now Konami has announced several new projects, including Silent Hill и remake of Silent Hill 2. Now it looks like Metal Gear could be the next Konami franchise to be revitalized with a modern remake.
