Fortnite has another interesting reward for fans of Rick and Morty, this Pickle Rick. In honor of one of the series' most iconic moments, Pickle Rick has been introduced to the game in the form of a fully reactive Back Bling item that players can equip. Rick and Morty already debuted in Fortnite a few seasons ago, but apparently Fortnite developers at Epic Games felt that any crossover would be incomplete without at least a nod to Rick's bizarre and hilarious transformation.

While much of the best Fortnite content is premium and usually has to be paid for, either in the item shop or by purchasing and leveling up in the latest Fortnite Battle Pass, Pickle Rick Back Bling is available for free. However, while it's undeniably great for free-to-play players, anyone who wants to get Pickle Rick must complete a series of challenges in Fortnite's Zero Build Horde Rush Mode.

Pickle Rick Fortnite Rick and Morty

Fortnite players have received a lot of new cosmetic content lately, and the villainous Herald is now available as an outfit for players who complete Herald's special missions in Fortnite. To get Pickle Rick, players must change tack and move from traditional battle royale game modes to the limited Zero Build Horde Rush mode. In this mode, squads of players fight waves of hostile cube monsters to survive by moving around the map, making combos and racking up score multipliers. It will culminate in a challenging final boss fight that will allow players to rack up new high scores. In this mode, nine special tasks are available, for the completion of each of which 20 Battle Pass XP are given.

How to unlock Pickle Rick in Fortnite

As with the free Chrome Punk Outfit in Fortnite, players will have to work hard to unlock the Pickle Rick Back Bling. While there are nine quests available, players only need to complete eight to unlock the headband:

ChallengeRewardCouncil
Collect 20 score multipliers 20,000 Battle Pass XPCollecting score multipliers takes time. Players should make sure they are covered by squadmates, as a lone player can be easily overwhelmed by cube monsters.
Deal 6 melee damage to cube monster spawns 20,000 Battle Pass XPCubic monsters will appear throughout the match. To deal melee damage to them, players can hit them with a pickaxe. Players do not have access to special melee weapons such as Darth Vader's red lightsaber, but the pickaxe deals increased damage in this mode.
Earn 2 total command points 20,000 Battle Pass XPThis quest must be completed within a few matches of Zero Build Horde Rush.
Earn a team score of at least 350 in a single match 20,000 Battle Pass XPPlayers can increase their scores by collecting score multipliers that multiply the scores of the entire team. Getting knockouts also multiplies the points of individual players.
Earn 50x knockout streak 20,000 Battle Pass XPThe main difficulty is to maintain a knockout streak and kill monsters without reloading. Also, players should aim to have some of the best new Fortnite weapons they can switch to.
Destroy 500 cubic monsters 20,000 Battle Pass XPCan be played over multiple matches. Also for the next two challenges.
Destroy 100 cube monsters with side weapons 20,000 Battle Pass XP
Open 45 chests 20,000 Battle Pass XP
Get 70 headshots on cube monsters in a single match 20,000 Battle Pass XPSniper rifles are available in this mode, but they are not recommended due to the large number of enemies. Most enemies in the horde will lunge at the player, making it much easier to shoot at close range with all weapons.

Once players complete eight quests, they will receive the Pickle Rick Back Bling. Fortnite has improved a lot since launch, and this likely includes improvements to enemy AI, making Horde Mode a real test of players' skills. However, with a good squad, Fortnite players will be able to hold their own and defeat the horde.
