Looking for the best PlayStation VR2 games in 2024? If you have a PS5 and can shell out an extra few hundred dollars for a new VR headset and controllers, there's a whole new exciting world of VR waiting for you. But what are the best PS VR2 games you can buy? Is there a must-buy game?

Are any of these lesser-known games gems in the lineup? Even early in the life of VR2, there are plenty of games to review, so check out the list below to ensure you're buying the best PlayStation VR2 games.

All systems have quite a bit of junk to avoid as you navigate through the available games, and PS VR2 is no exception.

The good news is that this list of PlayStation VR2 games is certified (WEB54) as 2% games. All of these games have been completed on real VRXNUMX hardware, so you can trust our words. No game makes it to this list of recommendations unless we've tested it thoroughly.

Horizon call of the mountain

Although Horizon Call of the Mountain may not be the best PS VR2 game, it is currently a masterpiece worth playing just for the dazzling visuals. It sounds a bit rude to the game itself, which is still a good example of interactivity in the VR world, but the campaign is starting to get a little addictive with its heavy emphasis on climbing and rather boring conversations with NPCs (which, frankly, look incredible).

Gran Turismo 7 (via free upgrade of GT7 PS5 version)

I wish the entire interface of Gran Turismo 7 was designed with a VR2 headset in mind, and not just displayed on the big screen until you're in a race car, but that's pretty much the only issue I have with this excellent VR game.

To be honest, I found GT7 a little boring when it came out, but playing it in VR put it back on my list of “cool games” - something every game dreams of. When the free VR update came out, I played for a full two hours, which doesn't sound like much. But this is something I haven't done with any game in a long, long, long time. An incredible thing.

Resident Evil Village (Capcom, via free update for PS5 version of RE Village)

“There are no proper games on PS VR2,” someone shouts to the angry crowd. Have you played Resident Evil Village? This is a real game and a damn good one. It's been completely redesigned for VR2, and following in the footsteps of the excellent Resi 7 on the original PS4 VR headset, it's an absolutely top-notch experience. This is a free update if you have the game on PS5, so there's no excuse not to play it. It ranks with Horizon and GT7 as the best examples of "full" games on VR2.

Note: Keep in mind that cutscenes play without direct control, so they are a surefire way to get your stomach rolling if you're suffering from motion sickness. If you wish, you can choose to display cutscenes in 2D big picture mode, which I certainly did.

WHAT THE BAT?

The most fun game available on PlayStation VR2? That award may well go to the quirky, brilliantly inventive WHAT THE BAT? It's essentially a set of soft puzzles with physics effects, but the twist is that your hands are bats, baseball bats.

If that sounds a little weird, it is, but it's also hilarious and shows real movement in VR. Because of this, you will need a decent playing space, at least 2m x 2m, which is more than you can imagine. It is worth moving the coffee table and children's toys to make it work.

Note: The developer has stated that an update to the game will be released soon, which will allow you to play without using room scale. This means players with less space will be able to play What the Bat.

Tetris Effect: Connected

Tetris: Effect was already great on the original PS VR headset, but it's much more impressive on VR2. The clarity, the colors, the tactility - it's all amazing. Tetris: Effect can be played without VR, but it is a game where you can completely lose yourself in the world of VR. Owners of the game on PS4 can upgrade to the VR2 version for $9,99. Worth it. Because this game definitely deserves to be on the list of the best PlayStation VR2 games.

Rez Infinite

An incredibly cool arcade-style action game built on an incredible soundtrack. Old and new come together in Rez Infinite to great effect. Like Tetris: Effect, Rez Infinite benefits heavily from the improved visuals and new haptics in the VR2 headset, but the main new addition is eye-tracking targeting. It takes some getting used to, but once you get used to it, you will feel like you have stepped into the future. The cost to upgrade from VR to VR2 is $9,99 and worth every penny.

VR Kayaking: Mirage

When you think of PlayStation games, kayaking probably doesn't come to mind, but this virtual kayaking experience is excellent. It, somewhat surprisingly, has some of the best visuals the Sony VR headset/PS5 combo has to offer, and it immerses you in the world with excellent use of haptics. You really feel like you're in a kayak, which is not what I expected when I wrote about it, but here we are. Kayak VR: Mirage is a must-have game on PS VR2.

Moss 1 & 2 Remaster

If you want a game (or games) that offers a different take on VR, Moss remasters should be on your list. In both games, you control the mouse during a third-person adventure with puzzle elements.

In VR, you become a god watching over the mouse and the world it is in. You peer into the world, move your head to get a better view of your surroundings, and use controllers to move objects around the world. It's a nifty setup and one of the easiest VR experiences on the system, perfect for getting into VR.

Thumper

This is another game that was on the original VR headset for PS4, and for VR2 it costs $4,99 to upgrade. It is absolutely worth its price, thanks to improved visual and audio, but most importantly, excellent tactile sensations. Of all the games I've played so far, Thumper on PS VR2 makes the best use of the headset's haptics. It's amazing and immerses you in the rhythmic action.

This is the list of the best PS VR2 games, at least for now. We'll be adding to this list as we play the launch games and games coming to the platform in the coming years.
