Following a recent report that talked about an AI-guided voice game, Hellblade developer Ninja Theory clarified that she was not going to stop using real voice actors.

GLHF recently hosted report about artificial intelligence in voice acting and how voice actors are afraid of losing their jobs because of this technology. The article, in particular, talked about one of the companies working on this technology called Altered AI, and noted how Ninja Theory, currently working on Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga, works with Altered AI, which has led some to worry that the studio is replacing real actors with artificial intelligence. But Ninja Theory dispelled all those concerns with a recent tweet.

"No. To be clear, we only use AI technology for spot content to help us understand things like timing and placement early in development,” Ninja Theory wrote in response to a Twitter user asking if the studio was actually replacing real voice actors with AI. . “We then collaborate with real actors whose performances are at the heart of bringing our stories to life.”

GLHF noted in the material that the details of the partnership weren't revealed, which is partly why fans were concerned that potential voice actors were being dropped in favor of AI.

Different media industries use AI technology for a variety of purposes, such as how the technology has been used to recreating the voice of James Earl Jones as Darth Vader in the recent film "Obi-Wan"

And obviously there is a huge concern that actors will lose their jobs due to the development of technology. This is somewhat understandable in the case of Jones, who is now 91 and may not be able to perform as well as he used to. But other than that, the only relevant use cases for the technology seem to be those mentioned by Ninja Theory. Otherwise, things can get legally murky.
