The Elden Ring mod adds one of the most fun Dark Souls features to FromSoftware's fantasy open-world RPG with full ragdoll physics for human characters.

The An Elden Ring mod adds one of the funniest features of Dark Souls to FromSoftware's game, making the death of characters - both yours and your enemies - much more satisfying. Already one of the best RPGs on PC, Elden Ring is a game that involves a lot of death, especially when you're fighting Elden Ring's many challenging bosses. Despite this, it falls short of the original Dark Souls in one notable aspect - until now.

The Elden Ring "Player Ragdoll Physics" mod, created by Dweet, adds full ragdoll physics to your character, as well as all other humanoid characters upon death. While Elden Ring does feature mild ragdoll effects on some creatures that can sometimes cause chaos, most models either completely disappear into a cloud of dust upon death, including the player character, or lie relatively still with minimal reaction to touch.

Probably FromSoftware decided to simplify the load on the game's physics engine, given the scale of the open world, or the team decided that it was just too stupid. While both of these reasons would be valid, there's no denying how much fun it is to roll fallen enemies across the battlefield, rolling quickly over their body. It also makes dying the twentieth time in a particularly difficult encounter much more bearable thanks to the joy of seeing your Tarnished tumble through the sky.

Dweeb notes that the standard dust particle effect still appears upon death, although your character doesn't disappear—they say they like to "think of it as your soul leaving your body." Almost all death animations are affected, with the exception of a few grabs, death light, and falling into the "kill box" (found in the deadliest holes of Elden Ring). Dweeb also warns that the mod affects core game files, so it emphasizes that using it in normal online mode may result in you being banned from online play.
