Intel Raptor Lake is now treading water in the gaming processor scene, and the flagship chip has set a speed world record. While AMD previously dominated in terms of frequency, the overclocker managed to squeeze 8,8GHz out of the i9-13900K.

The record-breaking Intel Raptor Lake benchmarks are provided by Elmor, who managed to hit a record-breaking 8812,85MHz on an overclocked i9-13900K. Of course, even if you have the best gaming PC, you will almost certainly have a hard time reaching the listed frequencies since the enthusiast is using liquid nitrogen instead of a traditional AIO cooler.

record fastest gaming processor  previously belonged to the AMD FX 8370, a high-end chip that appeared back in 2014. While one might expect a modern processor to outperform an older version, it was eight years before a contender was able to snatch that title, adding respect to Intel's recently earned streak.

Naturally, speed alone doesn't make a processor the best for gaming, and the Elmor benchmarks are more of a sporting achievement than a performance advantage. However, experimenting with overclocking helps showcase the chip's top-end capabilities, even if it won't necessarily help you get more frames per second with the Nvidia RTX 4090.

Intel may be first, but AMD's Zen 4 chips are due to arrive on September 27th. So while the blue team currently appears to be in the lead, rivals like the Ryzen 9 7950X are likely to rise to the challenge.
