One Piece Odyssey has finally found a release date, confirmed by a new trailer that says it will release on January 13, 2023.
In a new trailer unveiled by Bandai Namco at the Tokyo Game Show, fans of the Straw Hat Crew will be able to join the lovable pirates in their next gaming adventure in just a few months. The new trailer outlines part of the game's plot, unsurprisingly highlighting the abilities of each of the characters. Like many shonen anime, the pirate crew is overpowered these days, so something needs to be done early in the game to weaken their powers.
The Straw Hats will have to collect the dice to get their powers back, though the trailer, being mostly cinematic, didn't show exactly how you'd do it.
One Piece Odyssey has an original storyline and also brought in series creator Eiichiro Oda to design the characters and monsters. In it, Monkey D. Luffy and Co. will travel across a mysterious island supposedly filled with treasure, meaning you can explore an open world and engage in turn-based combat.
By pre-ordering the game you will receive a set of accessories, the most important of which is obviously the Traveling Attire set, which simply makes the Straw Hat crew look like their original (and overall better) models. There is also a digital Deluxe Edition, which includes rare accessories, another outfit, and an additional story that will appear at a later date;
There were also many other major announcements at TGS. Like A Dragon: Ishin is the latest game from Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, and is a remake of a spin-off game created in the 1800s that was previously only available in Japan. And the Yakuza series has also officially changed its name to Like A Dragon, with Like A Dragon 8 confirmed for release in 2024.
