The board game Moonbreaker is all about collecting, painting, and team-fighting whimsical sci-fi figurines, but since its Early Access launch last week, it's received some criticism due to its boss rush mode, Cargo Run. Currently, you need to spend one "contract" in the in-game store to enter the Cargo Run mode, but Unknown Worlds says it's ditching that system so players can use the PvE mode for as long as they want.

Cargo Run pits you against five increasingly difficult AI-controlled bosses, and is the only way to earn seasonal experience in Moonbreaker that isn't face-to-face PvP. Right now, you have to spend a contract to play. The Moonbreaker Shop gives you one free contract per day, but after that you have to spend another in-game currency to buy it.

Like many games, there are two of them in Moonbreaker: there are blanks that are earned as a reward for successful Cargo Run matches and on the track of the season. Then there are pulsars that you buy with real money. They come in packs of 75 for $4,99, and with one contract for 25 Pulsars, it's about $1,66 per attempted cargo run (if you don't want to use blanks).

This was not liked by some players who complained about the presence of a game mode with microtransactions in the game with early access on the forums Steam. Game director Charlie Cleveland announced that the team was waiving the contract requirements for Cargo Run and issued an apology.

“Attention: we are completely phasing out Cargo Run contracts,” Cleveland says. via twitter. “So you can play unlimited times. Sorry about that. Thank you for supporting us as we learn how to launch the game with a live service."

Cleveland says players can expect this update "early next week."
