A new mod for Skyrim lets you forgo your life as an Elder Scrolls RPG hero, stop being a dragonborn and spend your days as a standard Bethesda NPC, offering a new way to pass the time and catch a dark, tedious mood while we wait for more details on the release date of Starfield.

The pressure of reality is pretty relentless. Accounts. Job. Responsibilities. We dive into video games to find a way out of all these expectations and obligations, with a cruel irony that often, like in Skyrim, we find ourselves in the role of the only person who can save the world - if you think shopping and cooking dinner is too much work, now the fate of an entire civilization is on your shoulders.

What if you just want to fade into the background? What if you want the freedom to be a nobody, an anonymous NPC-like figure that just disappears into the banal Bethesda backdrop? In immortal words of the theme song from "Cheers", what if you want to go somewhere where no one knows your name? Well, there's a Skyrim mod for that, just like there are Skyrim mods for just about everything.

I'm Not a Dragonborn ends Skyrim's story after the "Rise of the Dragon" quest, which was redesigned so that instead of killing Mirmulnir and absorbing his soul, thus confirming to the stunned Whiterun viewers that you are indeed the Chosen One, after you've killed the dragon, you just... go back to what you were doing. You're not a Dragonborn - you're just a human. This is absolute escapism in video games, allowing you to do and be basically what you want and no one expects, well, anything.

Described by the creator of Lobo22 as "a great mod for those who are tired of playing as the chosen one," it even goes as far as to remove all NPC dialogue that refers to you as a Dragonborn. Download I'm not a dragonborn s Nexus mods and spend some well-deserved time roaming Skyrim doing absolutely everything.

Of course, as you wander around Solitude and Riften, you can still read our guide to Bethesda's next opus and all the cities of Starfield. We also know all about Starfield skills and Starfield factions, most of which you can be sure will make you become a hero.
