Since 2020, Valorant has gained a huge following, luring millions of players from competing FPS games. Her growing popularity has also generated a lot of buzz on other platforms. From mobile to console players, everyone is eager to try out Riot's character-based shooter, and it looks like the developer is listening—console Valorant is on its way.

The new job opening revealed that Riot is developing Valorant for the console. While there have been many rumors about the mobile and console version of Valorant, this official announcement confirms that Riot is working hard on expanding its FPS. Valorant is currently in need of a senior game designer, which means the game is still in its early stages of development. As such, players will have to wait at least a year or two before they can enjoy it on Xbox, PlayStation, and other consoles.

Valorant console

This is not the first time players have heard about Valorant on console. Data Miners dug up solid strings with PSN and Xbox keywords, piqued the interest of console gamers. Now vacancy confirmed what was just rumors: Riot is indeed recruiting for the Valorant console.

While this is undeniably great news, it also comes with legitimate concerns for PC players. Valorant has been out for over two years now and has finally established a stable competitive network. Players are now worried that Riot might consider adding crossplay, which could potentially hurt gameplay.

If we're to make a wild guess, it's unlikely Riot will allow crossplay given the pervasiveness of the Valorant esports scene. It is important to the health and integrity of the game that all participants have the same gaming devices, but again, nothing has been decided. So far, Valorant fans are happy that the unique character-based FPS is thriving in 2022.
