The last few years have been torture for anyone. Silent Hill fan. We've been getting rumor after rumor, leak after leak, but we still haven't heard even a whisper from Konami. It got to the point where many fans were desperately hoping for a new installment in the seminal horror series, but many were resigned to the fact that it might never happen. Instead, we're left trying—and struggling—to replay some of the best horror games of all time.

It's been a full decade since the last full-fledged Silent Hill game, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and seven years since we were all in awe of PT and then despised by the cancellation of Silent Hills. Needless to say, the path of a Silent Hill fan is pretty rocky.

Looks like Konami is full of surprises. Last night, the official Silent Hill Twitter account shared: “Do you see this city in your troubled dreams? The latest updates for the SILENT HILL series will be revealed during the #SILENTHILL Transmission on Wednesday, October 19 at 2:00 PM PDT.." Yes, Konami. Since childhood, I have had restless dreams about this city; Why do you think most of us can't wait to go back?

For reference, this 2PM PDT / 10PM BST / 5PM ET / 4PM CT this Wednesday, Oct 19.

The announcement was retweeted by Masahiro Ito, who often served as art director and monster designer for the Silent Hill series. In particular, he created Pyramid Head; he later said that he hated his creation. Ito did not explain the reason, but many fans concluded that it was because enemies like Pyramid Head were supposed to be exclusive to the game they appeared in. As a result, he ended up in a bunch of other games in the Silent Hill series. He also spoke more than once about how he was tired of the misperceptions of the game by fans.

This is not a confirmation of whether Ito is involved in the project; he's just supporting the series he helped create. However, if Itoh is involved, it's safe to say that all the new (or old) enemies we meet will be in great shape.

Note that quite recently Silent Hill: The Short Message was rated in the Korean rating of games. This could very well be part of what we'll see during Wednesday's broadcast.

However, that's not all. We've also been privy to many whispers regarding a remake of Silent Hill 2. Just last week Christophe Gans (director of Silent Hill, 2006) shared in an interview that "I'm working with the Silent Team, the creators of the original game at Konami, there are several in development games."

And let's not forget those leaked screenshots from the Bloober Team's internal presentation for the Silent Hill 2 remake. If all these rumors point to anything, it's that we may very well be seeing James Sunderland again soon.
