Call of Duty Warzone 2 DMZ mode reveal "falls short of expectations" as Infinity Ward tests its upcoming battle royale title ahead of the launch of CoD Modern Warfare 2's first season.

As the first season of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 releases on November 16th, developer Infinity Ward has allowed some Twitch content creators and streamers to test the DMZ mode prior to release. Some, however, say that the game's initial reveal was less than impressive.
“I think DMZ failed today, unless I just missed some things,” says Call of Duty Twitch streamer JGOD. “The economic system that should be a core element of the loot genre was not shown. Almost every POV I watched tried to play like a battle royale because of this."
The economy system in Escape from Tarkov allows players to exchange matched items with each other. A similar system, which will greatly differentiate the DMZ from the traditional battle royale mode, is rumored to have leaked into Warzone 2 but has yet to be officially revealed.
Another Call of Duty content creator, Warzone Loadout, also expressed disappointment with the opening of the DMZ mode, saying it lacked "purpose."
“They [Infinity Ward] made a mistake by showing the DMZ like this without any explanation,” it says Twitter. "The two hours of gameplay were completely boring and lacked any real purpose."
Given the focus on weapon customization and creating the best possible drop, it's important to know ahead of time how the DMZ economy will work and what the new mode will do to take us away from traditional battle royale matches. Until that is revealed, the DMZ remains an uncertain prospect.
“I'm still interested in learning more before writing this. [DMZ] as something I would play" - says JGOD, "but still feel like they [Infinity Ward] haven't shown the important reason people are asking about, which is why."
