The latest DLC for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla DLC, appropriately titled "The Final Chapter", will be released for free in December with update 1.6.2, as Ubisoft announced it will end post-launch support for the extensive action-RPG. The developers have both good and bad news for fans of the open-world game, as the update introduces a new cosmetic option but removes the option for New Game Plus mode as seasonal festivals come to an end.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla The Last Chapter Launches Free December 6th. It aims to tie up the loose ends of the various storylines that Eivor encountered during his travels and bring closure to players' tenure with Clan Raven. While you can get the upgrade for free, you'll have to complete a number of preliminary tasks in the main part of the game to begin The Final Chapter.

First, you need to complete the main storyline by committing to all of England's territories. You then need to complete the Asgard and Jotunheim mythic storylines. You will then need to upgrade your settlement to level XNUMX and build a barracks in Jomsviking. Finally, you must kill all targets of the Order of the Ancients and uncover the identity of its leader. Only after that you will be able to go through the last arch of Eivor.

In addition to this news, Ubisoft notes that time-limited seasonal festivals will no longer be happening. However, if you've missed past festivals, don't worry - you'll be able to claim all the rewards you might have missed, as they'll be available for purchase with Silver from all merchants across England after completing the First Night of Samhain quest as part of the game's Glowecestrescire storyline. New rewards will also be available for sale, which will be described in detail in the full version of the patch note for the update.

Unfortunately for fans who were hoping for New Game Plus to be added to Assassin's Creed, there's some sad news for Valhalla as Ubisoft has confirmed that there won't be an NG+ option. The post states that "community feedback is what constantly pushes us to improve our experience," but "when exploring introducing New Game Plus, we realized that the depth of the game gave us limited ability to make replayability unique and rewarding."

Update Blog offers an apology, with Ubisoft saying it knows "this news will be a disappointment" to some fans, but points to updates such as the Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Forgotten Saga DLC as options for recurring content. Additionally, a cosmetic tweak has been added to allow players to keep Eivor's hood up at all times, even when removing his cloak. Ubisoft notes that this tweak is "purely cosmetic and does not affect gameplay or detection."

Hints in the Ubisoft Connect code suggest we might see Assassin's Creed: Valhalla on Steam in future. Meanwhile, the next Assassin's Creed game, Mirage, has been officially confirmed.
