The darkness of the Arctic descends on the earth in a brand new season of the hit series True Detective: Nightland, which will be released in 2023 year. Issa Lopez ("Tigers Are Not Afraid") wrote the screenplay for "Nightland," starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis. John Hawkes (Deadwood, Winter Bone), Christopher Eccleston (The Leftovers), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Finn Bennett (Domina) and Anna Lambe (Three Pines) will also star. .

The series centers on Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro as they try to solve the case of six men working at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station who disappear without a trace as a long winter night descends on Ennis, Alaska.

"The couple will have to confront the darkness they carry within them and unearth the ghostly truths buried under the eternal ice."

This will be the first season of the series without creator Nick Pizzolatto. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson return as executive producers, with Foster also serving as executive producer.

True Detective premiered on HBO in 2014, with a stellar first season followed by a second and third season that did not receive the same acclaim as the first.
