Looking for how to tame a horse in Minecraft? These tameable Minecraft mobs can be used as a handy way to explore new Minecraft seeds thanks to their high speed and ability to crawl through holes in a single block.

Minecraft horses can climb hills, jump over fences, and even swim in shallow water, making your pony the best vehicle for exploration. Once tamed, you will be able to equip your Minecraft horse with armor and a saddle. Be sure to keep an eye on your horse in survival and adventure mode, as you need to keep an eye on the health of the horse while riding so as not to stumble upon Minecraft phantoms collecting garbage. While you're on a horse, you can use items in the same way as you normally would: potions, weapons, an enchantment table, or a blast furnace.

If you don't want to tame a new horse in Minecraft, you can get your own by feeding two tamed horses to activate love mode—that's the official term, by the way—and they sire a foal. Foals cannot be tamed until they are older, but they can be fed to speed up their growth. When your foal gets older, or if you're looking for how to tame a horse in Minecraft for the first time, read on.

How to tame a horse in Minecraft

There are a few requirements that you will need to consider when taming a horse in Minecraft. Firstly, the horse has a temperament meter from 0 to 100. As soon as you first raise the horse, it will be assigned a taming threshold, that is, until the Minecraft horse exceeds this threshold, it will remain wild, however, you can influence this threshold, feeding the horse sugar, wheat or apples.

So how do you feed a horse in Minecraft? The horse needs to be hungry to eat, so keep that in mind. Just select the food you want to feed the horse on the hotbar, take it in your hand, carefully approach the horse and use the food on it by pressing the right mouse button.

Don't worry if you get knocked off your horse at first, this is completely normal and is actually quite realistic for wild horses. You will need to keep mounting the horse until you reach the taming threshold, no matter how many times it throws you. When the horse reaches this magical number, hearts will appear above it - congratulations on your new pet!

Where to find a horse in Minecraft

Minecraft horses appear on the plains and savannas in herds of 2-6 heads - all herds are the same color, but each horse has different markings. You can also find horses in Minecraft villages, naturally in stables or animal pens.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that, but if your Minecraft horse kicks a horse, it will drop 0-2 leather, 1-3 experience, and horse armor if equipped.

Horses aren't the only cute mobs in Minecraft. Bees in Minecraft are also adorable neutral mobs that can help you get a block of honey in Minecraft. Minecraft frogs will also be coming to The Wild update, although we don't know what they do yet - other than jumping around and looking cute, of course.
