The Resident Evil 4 remake is finally out and one of the first tasks for many passionate finishers will be reaching the elusive S+ Rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake, which requires certain skills, that's for sure. Without further ado, here's how to get an S+ rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

What is rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake?

The ranking system in Resident Evil 4 Remake assigns you a completion rank after you complete the game. Simply put, this rating tells you how well you did during your run and can depend on a few things.

However, primarily in Resident Evil 4 Remake, your completion rank depends on how long it takes you to beat the game on a certain difficulty level.

How to get an S+ rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake

First, you can't get an S+ rank in the New Game Plus mode in Resident Evil 4 Remake. You must complete a fresh launch of the game.

The S+ rank in Resident Evil 4 will depend on the difficulty and time it takes you to finish the game and start the credits.

Ultimately, this is no easy feat, and only for the most die-hard Resident Evil fans. You certainly won't catch me trying to get past the hardcore difficulty without dying.

Ideally, players should aim for the next time, depending on their difficulty (thanks, Reddit):

  • Assisted: Complete the game in less than four hours.
  • Standard: Complete the game in less than five hours.
  • Hardcore: Complete the game in less than five hours and 30 minutes.
  • Professional: Complete the game in less than five hours and 30 minutes.

There are a few other things to keep in mind when trying to improve your running. Here they are:

  • Avoid anything that will take up a lot of your time, including side quests, treasure hunts, and so on.
  • Try not to die, and if you do, reload your save instead of clicking Continue.
  • Do not use special weapons or first aid sprays - we are not 100% sure that at the time of writing these were used for S + rank, but they were in previous games in the series, so it might be worth playing it safe.
  • Practice countering enemies to limit your deaths; Combat Knife can now parry attacks and is great for that.
  • Choose your weapons wisely; they can make or break a run. You'll need a rifle to complete the playthrough, but the original pistol and shotgun packs a punch once fully upgraded. You can also find new weapons all over the map without too many detours.

As always, we'll be updating this space with more details as we know them, and be sure to let us know if you've successfully passed the S+ rank and how you did it!
