Microsoft released September Xbox Update for Xbox One and Series consoles, and it comes with some really nice and handy features.

The Xbox September Update lets you customize the color of the Xbox button on your Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller, organize your library, and take advantage of new default storage and installation options.

Deathloop: Play.

When it comes to color on the Series 2 controller, you can choose from a wide range of colors that combine red, blue and green LEDs to produce over 16 million shades of light. Good amount of options.

To customize button settings, open the Xbox Accessories app on your console or PC with a controller connected, select an existing profile or create a new one, then select the Color tab to see the full range of color options. From here, you can even change the brightness, use the menu sliders to see all the color options, or use Hex Code to create the exact color you want. Make sure you have the latest version of the Xbox Accessories app installed along with the Xbox September Update.

The Library update makes it easier to access games and apps on your Xbox One or Xbox Series console. This is because the My Games & Apps view in the Full Library has been redesigned to show all the games you own, as well as all the games you have access to through current subscriptions and stated "Games with Gold" " You also get easy access to your subscription catalogs, editorial content, and all your apps.

The update also lets you choose different default storage locations for games and apps. To do this, in the storage device settings, select Change installation locations if you have external drives or a memory expansion card connected. You can choose a specific drive as the installation location or "Let Xbox decide where to install the content for the fastest drive with available space."

With the update, Xbox Game Bar on PC now lets you get a sharing link for any capture you want to share via SMS, WhatsApp, Twitter, Messenger and more. If your settings are set to Public, anyone who receives your link will be able to see your shared captures. To take pictures while gaming, press the Windows logo key + G on your keyboard to open the Xbox Game Bar. If you have an Xbox controller connected to your computer, press the Xbox button. Then click on the "Copy" link at the bottom of any selected game capture in the gallery, which will download the capture and provide a shareable link.

Party chat noise reduction is also now available on Xbox One consoles and Windows 10/11 PCs. Announced last month for Xbox Series X/S, this option is now available to everyone else. With noise cancellation turned on, you may notice less unwanted noise and interruptions as it helps eliminate noise such as gamepad clicks, breathing, and background noise at your parties.

There's also a new "Start a Party" button in the Xbox app. This means you no longer have to create a party from scratch every time. Simply find the Parties option in the Social tab, browse through your list of recent parties, and start them again—or simply create a new one by selecting the friends you want to invite.

Finally, while this update is not relevant to this update, last month's update reportedly removed the online one-time check that occurred when inserting an Xbox One disc into an Xbox Series X console.

Apparently, Microsoft has removed verification for older Xbox One games and some Smart Delivery discs. According to Ars Technica, the Xbox engineering lead confirmed that the removal was included in the 2208 update back in August. However, backwards compatible discs from consoles older than Xbox One still require online access and must be downloaded to newer systems in order to play.
