The major Roblox hack is back in a new form, causing innocent players to face bans when they enter and play games designed to run an exploit on the platform.

The exploit is launched by certain games, and usually they look like regular games on a sandbox gaming platform. Players who enter these games, which tend to promise cryptic content, are asked to enter letters corresponding to on-screen commands.

However, the sequence of these letter presses causes the player to enter words that violate the platform's Terms of Service, resulting in instant bans from Roblox's automatic moderation tools.

These exploits are similar to the Crosswoods Roblox hack that the platform encountered in July, which caused players to get banned after entering certain games. The games spoofed Roblox chat and triggered text phrases spitting out inappropriate words, resulting in an instant ban via automatic moderation. The team behind the hack specifically targeted Twitch streamers to force them to play these games, resulting in the content creators being banned from the platform while streaming live.

These hackers, whether they belong to the same group or different groups, also target streamers. Content creator by name Fallen Synapse were the first to flag the exploit by posting a Twitch clip of them entering a game called The Silence. [BETA] by EdGames11334. After some brief overview text, the game prompts the player to play the game by pressing a certain letter, and then follows further letter-press prompts to get the player to agree to things like screamers. When typed in sequence, these letters form words that trigger automatic Roblox moderation.

Youtuber SharkBlox covered the exploit in a video uploaded October 5th. In the video, the content creator is using an alternate Roblox account to access another game that appears to be causing problems. Luckily, the YouTuber manages to figure out how to run the exploit and is therefore able to avoid it.

While Roblox removed both games from the site, it doesn't appear that the company has taken any additional concrete steps to help protect innocent players from being banned from the platform.

While these games initially appear to be legal, players may find signs that the creators may not be the true developers of Roblox as they may be using new Roblox accounts or accounts with limited Roblox history. In these cases, the attackers likely created or obtained accounts simply to create games that run exploits.

The new exploit does not seem to be as serious as the Crosswoods exploit, as FallenSynapse faced a ban for just one day. However, if you are banned after visiting such a game and you think the ban is unfair, you can appeal it through form on Roblox website. Be sure to offer a detailed description of what happened. As long as Roblox is aware of the exploit, innocent players who receive a ban should be unbanned. However, the Roblox team may take some time to respond to you and your ban may be lifted by the time you receive a response.
