Endnight Games has confirmed that the release date for The Sons of the Forest — February 23, 2023 on PC via Steam, with an initial launch in Early Access.
After over a year of delays, we were hopeful that the release date would be final, especially when it was announced that this was the "final" delay. Presumably, this is why the small team at Endnight Games decided to hold off on the date and simply go into Early Access. However, it's nice to see how much the developer has planned for the game and his willingness to work with the community.

Unlike the game The Forest, in which you're the lone survivor of a plane crash, here you're technically selected venture into the cannibal-infested world of the Sons in search of a missing billionaire. Remember this when your helicopter crashes to the ground after a mysterious attack. We're not sure why you don't just leave it there, embodying the phrase "Eat Rich," but hey, you have bills to pay.
While the circumstances of why you're looking for this billionaire will be revealed on Sons of the Forest release day, we have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen once you're stranded on a desert island. Alone or with friends, you'll explore, craft, survive, and hunt to stay alive and fight off the cannibalistic threats to your life. Sons of the Forest is an open-world survival horror game in which you have to go all the way at your own discretion.
You will not only have to fight mutated monsters, but also resist mother nature, because in Sons of the Forest all four seasons are represented (to be honest, I would give up looking for this guy). The spring and summer months may be easier to get through with fresh prey in the ocean and forest, but the bitter cold of winter can be more of a challenge, so be prepared.

We're sure Endnight Games is deliberately keeping quiet about their sequel.
