IO Interactive has announced that it has once again delayed the release of Freelance mode for Hitman 3. Hitman 3.

Originally scheduled for spring and then pushed back to the second half of this year, IO says that while the mode is "almost ready," there are still a few things that need to be confirmed before Freelancer launches.

To do this, the studio plans to conduct a closed technical test of Freelancer for a rogue-like mode. In early November, IO will selectively invite Hitman 3 players to Steamso that they can test the strength of the regime.

While participating in the test, you will be able to set up a safe house, eliminate syndicate leaders, unlock mastery and try out the main elements of the mode.

The closed tech test will also act as a stress test for the servers and give the developers an early indication of player behavior. This will also allow them to do some balancing of the economy and XP in a real-world scenario on a large scale.

More details will follow on October 27th when the team will share details about the test, including how you can participate.

Announced back in January, Freelancer introduces strategic planning and a customizable hideout.

As you progress through Freelancer, new areas of the Vault will open up, as well as new customization options. Pre-mission planning will also take place here thanks to access to the mission center. You can choose which campaign to play, and once it's completed, return to the Safehouse to replenish your supplies and plan your next steps.

Freelancer is expected to release on January 26, 2023.
