Games like Prey haven't been made anymore since 2006. From the same era of classic shooters like Doom 3, Half-Life 2 and FEAR, we've long mourned the cancellation of Prey 2 and hoped for the return of Tommy Tawodi and the nefarious Guardians. A 2017 spiritual successor from Bethesda and Arkane helped ease the pain, but while Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake are still going strong thanks to sequels and re-releases, Prey seems to have been left on the sidelines of shooter history. So be grateful to Prey Hi-Def, a recently updated mod project that completely remasters the Human Head shooter in HD and is available for download right now.

From high-poly character models to 4K textures and more shadow and lighting detail, Prey Hi-Def makes the 2006 cult classic look almost like it was released today. If you're feeling nostalgic for early '00s PC visuals, Prey Hi-Def does a fantastic job of maintaining the overall aesthetic, but with a much-needed resolution boost. You can see it in action below:

Will there ever be another Prey game? With Arkane wrapping up Redfall and Bethesda moving towards a confirmed release date for Starfield, it's hard to imagine Tommy or Morgan Wu from the 2017 game of the same name returning anytime soon. But we can always hope, and in the meantime, you can purchase Prey Hi-Def at link.
