The Oculus Quest 2 continues to bring popular series to the standalone Meta VR headset. While a lot of big titles like Iron Man VR are coming out this November, we're slowly learning what's in store for VR gaming in 2023. Developer nDreams and publisher Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) have officially confirmed that Ghostbusters VR: Rise of the Ghost Lord will be coming to VR headsets in 2023.

Launch on Meta Quest 2, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord takes us to San Francisco with a new team. Here we will catch ghosts in single player or with up to three friends thanks to the cooperative campaign. While you can experience it on the best VR headset, it's also coming to PSVR 2, Meta Quest Pro, and probably the upcoming Oculus Quest 3.

While we still have too much to learn about this upcoming story, Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR) has come up with a new outline:

“In this exciting new chapter in the world of Ghostbusters, players will take on new characters as they begin their journey as they run their own ghost-busting headquarters in San Francisco.

Iconic city locations like the Golden Gate Bridge will come to life in an expansive and engaging campaign where players can play alone or team up with up to three friends in co-op mode to stop the powerful Ghost Lord and his band of evil ghosts from wreaking havoc across the city." .

In a press release, SPVR confirmed that Rise of the Ghost Lord will allow you to "use and upgrade iconic Ghostbusters gear and customize elements of your characters' appearances." However, the announcement trailer doesn't include any gameplay, so we'll have to wait a little longer to see the legendary team in action.

This isn't the first time we've seen Ghostbusters in VR, although you'd be forgiven for not remembering that. Frankly, Sony might even prefer that we forget about Ghostbusters VR: Firehouse and Showdown. Released in 2018, the adventure was heavily panned by fans and critics alike and has since been discontinued. With nDreams in the works, we hope that Rise of the Ghost Lord doesn't repeat the mistakes of its predecessor.
