Even after more than a decade, the best Skyrim mods can completely change the visuals and weather of Bethesda's RPG. From texture improvements to DLSS support, the opportunities to give an aging open-world game some well-deserved shine are never ending, and a brand new weather update mod - combining the work of many others and adding its own - does just that.

Called Patrician ENB and created by marmotte, this colossal weather mod for Skyrim acts as a fantasy game preset for the land of Tamriel. Building on other works, the Skyrim mod adds over 100 "unique outdoor and indoor weather conditions that result in breathtaking visuals that are sure to delight."

Characters, unique quests and locations will also be affected by the Skyrim weather mod, which is designed to make every day on your journey radically different and eventful. You can get an idea of what the world of Skyrim will look like with this mod by watching Maxx'd's YouTube video.

As mentioned, Patrician ENB also combines a lot of other mods that you will need to download for it to work, which come together to create a truly new experience. There is new weather, lighting, water, embers, sky grids, mountain fogs, lightning bolts, fog and grass. From the looks of it, this mod unifies and improves on all the others, creating the perfect Skyrim experience.

As marmotte pointed out, this mod for Skyrim requires some serious commitment to work. At first glance, nothing complicated, but there are a large number of required mods on top of Patrician ENB, as well as a few mods that they recommend installing.

That's what this mod is, a collection, as it aims to combine a number of other mods into one giant ENB (enhanced natural beauty) project to truly remake vanilla Skyrim into something modern. I know "making Skyrim modern" sounds weird, but it's already over a decade old, so a facelift is certainly welcome now, even if Bethesda's RPG doesn't need it.

Anyway, Skyrim is still here after all this time and I wouldn't want it to be any other way. So much so that we finally get to know what Skyrim would be like in real life, and, surprise, it's a terrible place to live. The former Skyrim developer is also building a hunting sim with a map five times the size of an RPG.
