Battle Rifles Modern Warfare 2 this is a new weapon type for the Call of Duty series, and may even become a new favorite for some thanks to its resemblance to some of the best assault rifles in multiplayer. While you'll have to contend with stiffer recoil compared to most ARs, you'll be rewarded with more damage and improved range. Once we get a good look at the new battle rifles post-Modern Warfare 2, we'll get a better idea of what gunsmith attachments can help deal with recoil.
Modern Warfare 2 only has four new battle rifles available at launch. While you may be more familiar with the wide variety of existing assault rifles, we highly recommend that you give these new rifles a try. Since there aren't many of them, we've listed and described all four below, but consider this a kind of tier list as you'll find them in order from best to worst. So, starting with the Lachmann-762, here are the best Modern Warfare 2 battle rifles.

Our top-of-the-line Lachmann-762 helps deal with the recoil and handling of the weapon, and it's a great long-range rifle while its damage and rate of fire are similar to others on this list. As with the FTAC below, we opted for the VX Pineapple Vert Grip and the 15,9" Lachmann Rapp Barrel improves the weapon's rate of fire and recoil control.

If accuracy and range are more important to you, then the FTAC Recon is for you. This is the only battle rifle that comes standard with just ten rounds, so we opted for a 15-round magazine - you'll only want to use this weapon if you're confident in your accuracy. V-TAC
When we look at the weapon's stats and compare them to the FTAC Recon's, we have reason to believe that this will be a star among battle rifles—depending on the attachment. While you sacrifice the tiniest amount of handling and damage compared to the FTAC, range and, most importantly, accuracy and recoil control are significantly greater, and everything else remains roughly the same. Once we see what attachments can be added to the TAQ-V, there's a good chance this weapon will be at the top of our list.
SO-14
Another new weapon that was not available in the beta, the SO-14 is the least controllable of the combat rifles, with the worst recoil control. It also has poor mobility and handling, all for the sake of a much improved rate of fire, although you may have to deal with heavy recoil with each shot. Once we've tested it in Gunsmith, we'll add the SO-14's best loading option here to take advantage of its incredible fire rate.
