The new year means a new rotation of Valorant maps, as well as the long-awaited return of the ax-wielding Split map, which is being reintroduced into the FPS game's location pool after a few months on the bench.

Split was removed from Valorant's ranked and unranked modes on June 16, 2022 and has not been seen since. Referring to factors such as "player mood, time since release, past and future planned updates, what the map brings in terms of strategic variance, and where Pearl fits into it all (to name a few). them)", Split was moved to the shadow category and has remained there since then - until now.

Split will return in patch 6.0 "with a few updates" in response to fan feedback. “Many of you wanted to bring it back, and it makes sense with other pool changes,” writes level designer Joe “Pearl Hogbash” Lansford. "We're looking forward to seeing how everyone plays on the map with all the new agents and meta shifts that have taken place since Split exited the rotation."

When one card appears, the others are removed, and Bind and Breeze are disabled both in the solo queue and in the ranking. “For Breeze, we feel that this map can improve in terms of agents and team composition,” Lansford comments.

“And for Bind, it's mostly strategic diversity. We'd like to play more with teleporters and perhaps rethink how teams perform and defend against executions on both sites."

He also notes that "like Split, these cards won't be gone forever", but there is currently no re-release date.
