Power Shot Explained in FIFA 23
Power shots are a new manual way of hitting the ball. It takes a long time to start moving because the shot has a lot of rotation and the aiming system does not automatically place the ball on the target. Because of this, you should only attempt a power hit if you know there is enough room to complete the animation, otherwise your opponent will easily recover the ball.
To perform a powerful shot, simply hold L1 + R1 (or LB + RB on an Xbox controller) and press circle (or B). You will have some time to aim the left stick as the player turns to shoot, but make sure he is in the general direction of the goal or you will end up exposing him for a throw-in.
Done right, a power shot can look incredible (think Cristiano Ronaldo against Porto) with your players throwing unstoppable shots at a helpless goalkeeper. A power kick takes into account the statistics of a player's long-range shot if it is made from outside the box, and the finishing one if it is inside.
How to turn off the power shot camera
Initially, the camera will zoom in whenever the player fires a powerful shot. This can be distracting, especially during intense play. To disable camera zoom, go to Personalized Settings > Game Settings > Camera > Power Zoom: OFF.
