The Epic Games Store brings out a new set of free PC games every week, and when that happens, we'll be updated on what's coming next week. So, while you're snapping up free copies of the horror game Darkwood and colorful RPG adventure ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove, you may notice that starting October 20th you can grab a free copy of Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, one of the best RPGs ever. ever created.

Fallout 3 marked a major inflection point for the series: it was Bethesda Game Studios' first foray into a franchise that had previously been developed by Interplay and Black Isle. It also marked the series' first foray into 3D - all previous Fallout games had used a Diablo-style top-down isometric view, but Fallout 3 dramatically changed the perspective to a first-person perspective.

This meant we got to experience the Capital Wasteland - what's left of Washington, D.C. - in a completely new way for the Fallout series, and the transition was a revelation. However, the game remained remarkably true to its turn-based roots and included the first iteration of the first-person VATS turn-queuing system that has been a mainstay of the series ever since.

Because this edition of Fallout 3 is Game of the Year, you'll get the base game plus all five expansions. These include Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt (which can now be visited in Fallout 76), Broken Steel, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta (which features an alien invasion).

Fallout 3 will be accompanied by Shiro Games' transforming RPG Evoland when it goes free on the Epic Games Store from October 20 to 27.
