Not sure if you remember that Detective Pikachu even got another game, but it's there, and it looks like not only is it still around, it might even come out soon.

The original 3DS game Detective Pikachu, which inspired the 2019 movie of the same name, is getting a sequel for Switch. shortly after the film's release. And since then, we've just… heard nothing about a sequel. But a sharp-sighted user Familyboards noticed a mention of the game on developer Jonathon Murphy's LinkedIn page, suggesting that the game might be around the corner.

Famiboards user MetalLord shared a screenshot from "Murphy." Pages on LinkedIn, a developer working at Creatures Inc. since 2017 as a senior programmer at the company that essentially created all your favorite Pokemon spin-offs and helps work on the mainline games. “Using Unity/C#, worked on one unannounced project and one close to release, Detective Pikachu 2,” reads Murphy's work experience section at Creatures Inc.

Considering there hasn't been an official announcement about the game since its announcement, this is the first time we've heard about it in over three years. Since this was spotted, Murphy has changed the description to call Detective Pikachu 2 "in development," so apparently the upcoming release date shouldn't have been mentioned.

Of course, there is no guarantee that what Murphy wrote was completely accurate. The changes to the text may just be a correction of a wrong piece of text, but it's strange that it was there at all, so who knows! Nintendo loves to throw in surprises from time to time, and with the open-world Pokémon Scarlet and Purple on the way, what could be better than the time when the hype is at its highest.
