Action RPG & Dungeon Dark and Darker, inspired by Diablo, has been removed from the platform Steam after Japanese-South Korean publisher Nexon allegedly sent a cease and desist letter.

This happened after a series of mutual accusations between the two companies. Basically, Nexon accused Ironmace, the developers of Dark and Darker, of stealing game code for a project called "P3", which is supposedly similar to the hit game in Steam dungeon crawler. Members of Ironmance were allegedly involved in the development of P3.

ironmans fast began to deny the allegations, but according to games-industry.biz, the company was raided by Korean police in early March. On March 25, fans noticed that the game was no longer available on Steam (I checked, it's not), and a subsequent statement on the game's dedicated Discord server explains why.

“To all our fans, we recently received a cease and desist letter and DMCA notice from Nexon regarding Dark and Darker based on misrepresentations,” writes developer “Krapst78.” “We are currently working with our legal team to resolve this issue in the best possible way. Due to the sensitive legal nature of this matter, we must be careful in our statements so as not to jeopardize our position.”

“We ask for your understanding as we work to restore the game as quickly as possible. Please know that we will do everything we can for our fans."

Discord statement discussing the supposed termination and abandonment, later sent by Naxon to the developers Dark and Darker.

Dark and Darker exploded on Steam in February after a free demo test, peaking at over 100 concurrent players per day. Described as a “relentless hardcore fantasy FPS adventure with PvPvE dungeon crawling,” you will delve into the depths of an ancient citadel and find treasure to sell to the local merchant. Think Tomb Raider and Diablo.
