With the arrival of AMD's RDNA 3 graphics cards, an unexpected pixel pusher could be the frontrunner for Team Red's upcoming GPU series, the Radeon 7900 XTX. The 'XTX' branding hasn't been seen since ATI, but its potential return could be driven by the power of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090.

Following on from previous reports that AMD's RDNA 3 presentation could see two Radeon GPUs up against the RTX 4000, it's increasingly likely that those graphics cards will be the Radeon 7900 XTX and Radeon 7900 XT. While the latter is rumored to pack less VRAM than the RTX 4090, the former can match the flagship RTX 4000 at 24GB of memory, albeit with slower GDDR6 memory.

All this according to sources on BenchlifeBut Videocardz was also able to confirm these rumors. However, until AMD makes an official announcement, we should take these reports with a grain of salt. However, the wait is not long, as the announcement of RDNA 3 is scheduled for November 3rd, where, we hope, the company's best video card will be shown.

While we should expect both Radeon cards to increase performance across the board, AMD RDNA 3 can greatly improve Radeon ray tracing performance. However, it remains unclear whether this will be enough to catch up with the Nvidia RTX 4090, or whether we will have to wait for graphics cards with 3D V-Cache to close the gap.
