Detective series Three Pines, filmed in Quebec, has become the latest victim of the recent content purge of the world's leading streaming services. The series was canceled by Prime Video after just one season and unfortunately there will not be a season 2. The news being reported Deadline, first became known through the Instagram accounts of showrunner Emilia di Giorlamo, original author Louise Penny and star El Maya Tailfeathers.

Giorlamo has already left the project, but wrote on Instagram: “I was informed that Left Bank, Sony and Prime Video wanted to bring the series back, but could not reach a mutually beneficial agreement". Giorlamo continued to console fans who may be upset by the news of the series' cancellation by noting that there are plenty of novels on which the series is based, written by the aforementioned Penny: "There are 18 incredible books by Louise in the series. Long live Gamache!". Penny's comments reflect disappointment that Prime Video will not continue adapting her novel series with subsequent seasons of Three Pines, saying, "I'm shocked and upset." Like any show, [Three Pines] had its growing pains, but it got better and better."

In the TV series Three Pines, Alfred Molina plays the role of Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. Throughout the eight episodes of the series' first and only season, Gamache investigates cases and solves numerous murders in the idyllic setting of the Quebec village of Three Pines, which gives the series its name. The season finale even ended on a cliffhanger—Gamache with his life on the line—that fans won't be able to see resolved.

Molina's Tailfeathers co-star portrayed the female lead, Sergeant Isabelle Lacoste, and this is what she had to say about the show's cancellation: "Thanks to everyone who watched and supported the Three Pines series. It is very important for me to know that this show has resonated with such a massive audience around the world. As an indigenous actor, I never thought that I would have the opportunity to be the leading woman in a show like this #1«.
