Considering that kaiju like Gorosaurus, Megaguirus, Destroyah, and Gigan have yet to debut in the Monster Universe, it's possible that Legendary will try to include these characters in future installments of the series.
The runaway success of Toho's Godzilla Minus One suggests that enthusiasm for the franchise is at its peak, but also indicates that audiences may be more interested in more serious interpretations of the characters. With its eccentric characters, frequent use of 1980s music and over-the-top visual spectacle, Godzilla Kong: The New Empire is easily the silliest entry in the Monsterverse to date. Whether this is a good thing remains to be seen.
