Allyn Taylor, original voice actor for the game Bayonetta by PlatinumGames, called for a boycott of the game after she said she received an "insulting" salary offer for the role.

It's been known for some time that, for some reason, Taylor has no plans to reprise her role as the iconic witch, which she essentially announced last year. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that acclaimed voice actress Jennifer Hale would be taking on the role, with the game's director Yusuke Miyata stating that "various overlapping circumstances make it difficult to reprise the role of Hellena Taylor." But now Taylor has posted a series of videos on her personal Twitter where she claims she ultimately had to turn down a comeback after being only offered $4000 to perform.

"I'm asking fans to boycott [Bayonetta 3] and instead spend the money you would have spent on this game donating it to charity," Taylor asked fans in first of four videos she posted on Twitter yesterday, October 15th. “I didn’t want the whole world. I didn't ask for too much. I was simply asking for a decent, decent, livable salary. What they did was legal, but it was immoral."

I go to some in details On the back and forth, Taylor explained that she did audition for the role again, noting that "sometimes voices change over time" but said she "obviously passed with flying colors." However, according to Taylor, after the audition she was sent an "insulting offer", although they did not disclose what the amount was. This led her to write to Hideki Kamiya, the director of the first Bayonetta who worked on the story of all three games, to "ask him for what I'm worth."

Taylor says Kamiya responded to her by saying that "he appreciated my contributions to the game and that the fans really wanted me to voice her" and that "the memories of meeting me for the first time as Bayonetta were dear to him." Taylor then decided it would help, but only received an offer of $4000.

Kamiya responded to the allegations your own twitter, writing: “It is a sad and deplorable attitude towards untruth. That's all I can say for now. By the way, beware of my rules. [sic],” the last line is a reference to how liberal he is with the lock button. At the time of writing, Kamiya's account is temporarily blocked.

PlatinumGames has yet to give an official answer on the matter, and neither has publisher Nintendo.
