The release date for Starfield is September 6, 2023, according to the new trailer. In this trailer, we not only get a cool cinematic revealing some of the mysteries of outer space, but also a quick update from Todd Howard himself, who reveals that a special Starfield Direct will take place on June 11th. This will obviously allow viewers to dive deep into the game in the months leading up to its release.

An additional surprise was the appearance of a certain Tim Lamb, who at one time was present on the videos dedicated to Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Making Of. Even though this is clearly a marketing video processed with a fine-toothed comb, you should like the Pip Boy statue in the background.

This release date for Starfield will certainly be mixed news for those who are itching to play the game, as Howard himself talks about in the video. However, you can feel the collective sigh of relief from the developers of other games that were due to release at the same time as Starfield in the first six months of 2023. Games like Redfall are getting the freedom to breathe when it used to feel like they might be stifled by the titanic release of Starfield.
