Is V Rising compatible with Steam Deck? In rare cases, games may be deemed suitable for play on Steam Deck, even if they have some underlying problems that prevent them from playing. V Rising is unfortunately one of those games, as it doesn't have controller support, meaning navigating the castle grounds is sometimes more hassle than it's worth.

Is V Rising compatible with Steam Deck?

V Rising is officially rated playable by Valve Steam Deck. Despite this, the game does not support controllers and you will have to download an external mod to enable the correct keybindings.

Valve is truly disappointed that V Rising received a playable rating. The game is difficult to enjoy with basic controls and doesn't show any controller inputs at all.

While players have found many mods to solve this problem, the idea behind Valve's rating system is that the game shouldn't actually require third-party files/mods to create an enjoyable experience.

There are many exceptions to this rule: countless games literally won't close unless you force them to turn off via the menu Steam Deck. But such problems have virtually no impact on the gameplay, while this control problem is quite serious.

It would be better if Valve found a way to explicitly state that the game is best played with a mouse and keyboard, even on Steam Deck. Much of the community's feedback agrees with this sentiment, but some still insist that the lack of native controller support is hard to stomach.

The positive thing is that V Rising works great on Steam Deck, even at relatively high settings, with stable frame rates in a variety of environments. If you don't mind connecting a mouse and keyboard or downloading a controller mapping mod, then we're happy to say that V Rising is a great game for Valve's handheld console.
