Late last year, we finally received confirmation that a Splinter Cell remake was being prepared by Ubisoft. While little is known about the direction the remake of Sam Fisher's stealth game will take, the director recently announced that he was leaving Ubisoft for a "new adventure."

The Splinter Cell remake has been directed by David Grivel from November of last year to the present, according to his LinkedIn profile. Grivel is also known as the game designer for Crysis 2 and moved to Ubisoft in 2011 to work on games such as Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 6.

“After more than 11 years at Ubisoft, the time has come for me to embark on a new adventure,” Grivel writes in a LinkedIn post. “11 years is a long time and it’s almost impossible to sum it up in one post, but I have to say that I was lucky. Lucky to work with so many wonderful people over the years. Made so many friends.” (noted GameRant).

Grivel also added that people should "stay connected" for their "next adventure", which is likely to be revealed soon. It is currently unknown who will replace Grivel.

The Splinter Cell remake was announced late last year, with Ubisoft saying it would remake the game "from the ground up using [the] Snowdrop engine," which is used for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the studio's upcoming Star Wars game.

Recent job postings at Ubisoft also indicate what we can expect from the Splinter Cell remake. “Using the first Splinter Cell game as a basis, we are rewriting and updating the story for modern audiences. "We want to maintain the spirit and themes of the original game, while exploring our characters and world to make them more authentic and believable," the announcement reads. listing.

While the game is in development at Ubisoft Toronto, nothing else is officially known about the game, but earlier this year we wrote that the Splinter Cell remake needed simple stealth.
