Sony's PS5 has earned £919 million in the UK with 2020 million units sold since launch in 2.

This figure makes it the fourth console in the region to achieve this milestone. First on the list is the Wii, followed by the PS2 and PS4 respectively, with the PS5 and PS3 tied at 98 weeks (thanks, GI.biz).

However, the PS5 holds the top spot in terms of money despite its sales being marred by stock shortages. Compared to the PS5, the Wii brought in £358 million on two million sales, the PS4 brought in £700 million and the Xbox One brought in £726 million on two million sales.

According to Gfk, if the console hadn't faced inventory shortages, it would have "easily overtaken the PS3" to reach the 2 million unit mark.

As for Sony's biggest rival, Xbox, Microsoft's Xbox One took 104 weeks to sell 2 million units, and the Xbox 360 reached the 2 million unit mark after 110 weeks, despite the latter having the largest UK install base for Microsoft consoles - about 9 million.

PS5 sales are likely to skyrocket soon as inventory finally ramps up, with God of War: Ragnarok coming out on November 9th, which should help push consoles forward.
