It seems that at some point after the release of multiplayer, Overwatch 2 Tracer introduced a hidden buff that allows the brazen British DPS hero to punch his way through other characters from a much greater distance than expected.

Overwatch 2 pro Dante "Danteh" Cruz, usually the damage specialist for the Overwatch League team Houston Outlaws until his impressive play as a tank this season led them to third place, brought this issue to attention with video messages , posted on his Twitter account. He comments: “Tracer range stealth buffed????” Overwatch League analyst Jonathan 'Reinforce' Larsson responds with a simple "WOW," while his tablemate and former professional support player Scott 'Custa' Kennedy jokes, "Great time for a vacation."

In the video, Dantech in the training room demonstrates how Tracer can consistently melt targets with constant fire from a long distance. While her dual pulse pistols have always had the ability to quickly incinerate opponents, the range at which she can do so in a real game is certainly amazing. Some players reacted to Dante's tweet with initial skepticism, but only after checking it out for themselves did they realize it was true.

Several players claim that this is not a new change and has been like this for a long time. It's certainly possible - although if it is, it managed to escape the attention of the professional Overwatch scene at a time when Tracer was expected to become meta in the Overwatch League season playoffs until last-minute adjustments to team strategies forced out Reaper takes center stage instead.

This is, of course, no longer the case. As Overwatch 2 streamer 'Flats' points out, Tracer has become quite popular in the tier XNUMX pro scene of Overwatch Contenders. “Remember how in Contenders I told you that they play Hog? Hog, Tracer, Sojourn, Lucio, Kiriko are meta, and I thought, “Why is Tracer meta? Tracer doesn't seem that strong." Because people found out that...” Flats then goes on to demonstrate ranged damage in the training room.

Flats also watched Dantech's video (You can see it in the video below in English, with the Tracer segment starting at the 13 minute mark). He notes that if Danteh is confused about this, then “probably no one knew - wasn't the Overwatch League a million-dollar game? And their meta could be very different if they actually had information about which characters were broken."
