Map issues in Modern Warfare 2 never seem to end. Between changes to high-demand maps and the complete removal of other maps, Call of Duty can't seem to calm down. At present, it is not known exactly why there are so many map problems in multiplayer, but a new detail regarding the Amsterdam map in an FPS game may indicate the reason.

Amsterdam's Modern Warfare 2 map "Breenbergh Hotel" could be next in line, as the real-life hotel it's based on, the Conservatorium Hotel, has complained about "undesirable involvement" in its free release as a Modern Warfare 2 map. and a potential lawsuit looms on the horizon. The Breenbergh Hotel may not be home to many of Modern Warfare 2's game modes anytime soon.

“We've taken note of the fact that the Conservatory Hotel is an undesirable location for the new Call of Duty [Modern Warfare 2],” hotel manager Roy Thomassen said in an interview De Volkskrant (transfer Dutch Times). “In general, we do not support games that appear to encourage violence. This game in no way reflects our core values, and we regret our apparent and unwanted involvement."

What this means for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Amsterdam map is still unknown, but this isn't the first time Modern Warfare 2 has had issues with multiplayer maps. The Modern Warfare 2 Formula 1 map was removed from marketing ahead of the shooter's full release, then returned under a different name.

This is most likely due to legal issues, as the map was originally called Marina Bay Raceway and sold as such, but when it appeared in full release, it was renamed Crown Raceway. Keep in mind that this is unconfirmed information, but many believe that the same thing happened to the Valderas Museum map.

This Modern Warfare 2 map was in beta but not included in the full game. Because it is based on the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California, Activision and Infinity Ward could face further legal trouble for somewhat recreating the location and not consulting with the museum itself. Considering that this is exactly what happened to the Amsterdam map, it can be assumed that similar problems could have occurred with the circuit and museum maps.

There is currently no official indication that there are legal issues behind all three of these Modern Warfare 2 map issues. There are many rumors, but we have not been able to find anything significant that would indicate the true reasons for the various removals and changes, except for the comments of the Hotel Amsterdam. We're just looking at what's in front of us, like how the maps are incredibly similar to real locations.
